Published reports attest to the high therapeutic effectiveness of various types of oils in various inflammatory processes. Benefits of pine nut oil are distinguished from other well-known curative oils by its enriched content of various kinds of healing elements. It is a natural product used from ancient times in folk medicine. Pine nut oil contains a large quantity of polyunsaturated fatty acids, including a significant quantity of fat-dissolving vitamins E and F, which are known for their high level of physiological and anti-acidic properties. The oil contains phosphatidic phosphorous, very important to bodily health, besides being a rich source of vitally important micro-elements: phoshporous, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper, zinc, cobalt and iodine. Pine oil contains up to 5% nitrogenous substances, of which 90% are amino acids, 70% of them indispenable acids — all of which testifies to its high physiological value.

2. Pine nut oil for ulcer

Clinical tests of pine nut oil have been conducted on patients at the Almaty Scientific Research Institute of Balneotherapy and Physiotherapy. The aims were: to demonstrate the healing effectiveness of a given product in both internal and external applications through sonic phonophoresis, to determine the dynamics of subjective and objective indications, to study the influence of pine nut oil on the nutritional, secretory and excretive functions of the stomach and liver, to study its anti-oxidant properties, to work out the methodology of application to treatment, to determine its level of tolerance by patients under various prescribed methodologies. Thorough attention has been paid to the use of pine nut oil for ulcers.

The following methodologies were used for this purpose:

1. General clinical blood research (aspartate aminotransferase, alanine-aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, antioxidant activity, methane-dicarbonicdialdehyde).
2. General blood and urinal analysis,
3. Follicle-stimulating hormone with targeted biopsy.
4. Duodenal intubation with research into the chemical properties of bile.
5. Determination of the secretory function of the stomach.
6. Ultrasonic examination of the bladder, kidneys and pancreas.

Pine Nut Sheller

The study comprised 30 patients under observation. Of these 25 had chronic erosive ulcers of the gastric mucosa, duodenal ulcers with accompanying cholanegiocholecystitis of opisthorchosis etiology; the remaining five had chronic cholecystitis with chronic gastritis with a reduced secretory stomach function.

Two of the thirty subjects had reactive pancreatitis, while four had chronic hepatitis outside active procedures. With all 30 subject s motor dyskinesia of the bowels was observed.

3. Pine nut oil for gastritis

Subsequently the subjects were prescribed a programme of treatment: one tablespoon of pine nut oil three times a day over a two-month period. As a result of this treatment stomach pains were completely eliminated in all patients. Symptoms of dyspeptic disorder (nausea, heartburn, regurgitation and vomiting) were not to be found in a single patient. In 28 of the subjects a normalisation of bowel functions took place. According to follicle-stimulating hormone tests conducted 20 days after the treatment, ten of the subjects had experienced full recovery from ulcers and gastritis along with a reduction in inflammation of gastric mucosa and duodenal ulcers, as well as a reduction in ulcer size for the remaining 15 patients with erosive mucous stomach ulcers. There was a 50% reduction in the number of cases of fixed duodenal reflexes, according to endoscopic and laboratory tests. In evaluating the laboratory tests there was an indication of some reduction of acidity in the stomach juices in subjects with previously high acidic levels. The quantity of bilious discharge from the gall bladder doubled. The research showed positive effect of use of pine nut oil for gastritis.

Thus, on the basis of the results obtained, one may conclude that pine nut oil has a healing effect, meets a favourable reaction with patients, and can be applied to the treatment of digestive disorders. It is especially effective in curing erosive stomach and duodenal ulcers. During the remission stage one can apply phonophoresis of pine nut oil to the projection area of the pathological process for a full and lasting hearling effect. When diluted with milk, the pine nut oil has an anti-inflammation effect in treating cholecystitis and hepatocholecystitis.

TREATMENT METHODOLOGY:

Pine Nut Oil enriched with Pine Resin
Turpentine Balsam

1. Pine oil is prescribed for 30 minutes or 1 hour before intake of food over a period of 21–24 days, with unhurried swallows of a tablespoon at a time three times a day. This is recommended for ulcerations located in the stomach or duodenum.

2. Pine oil is prescribed for 1 hour before intake of food, diluted with milk (1 : 1) according to the method described above. This is recommended when ulceration is combined with chronic cholecystitis.

3. Pine oil is prescribed internally according to variant Nº 2 with the following prescription of pine nut oil phonophoresis. An ultrasound of the epigastrium is prescribed in a dosage of 0.2–0.6 Bt/cm2 in either pulse or continuous action over a period of 2–4 minutes, as well as of the paravertebral zone (intensity of 0.2 Bt/cm2 over a period of 2 minutes). Before the ultrasound the patient drinks 1 glass of boiled water. This is recommended when the ulceration is combined with chronic pancreatitis.

4. In the case of post-excision disorders on account of ulceration, the treatment method may also be applied to patients operated on for cancer of the stomach.

INDICATIONS:

1. Patients with erosive ulcers of the stomach and duodenum.
2. Patients with cholecystitis and hepatocholecystitis.
3. Patients with endogastritis or bulbitis.
4. Patients with chronic pancreatitis.
5. Patients with post-excision discorders on account of ulceration.

There are no known counter-indications to application.

4. Pine nut oil for H. pylori

Pine Nut Oil is a natural medicine which proved to be effective for the number of conditions of digestive system. In folk medicine the pine nut oil is often used to treat H. pylori with success.

At the current moment the researches using Pine Nut Oil of "Siberian Pine Nut Oil" trademark are taking place in order to determine the effectiveness of using of pine nut oil in the treatment of H. Pylori. However, by this time we have number of positive reviews from the customers of www.PineNutOil.org on this health issue:

Hi, my mother had h-pylori used anti-biotics but they didn't work, she ordered siberian pine nut oil from pinenutoil.org , took a half a tea spoon a day three times a day for a month and it got rid of it. She had a stool test twice after the treatment and a blood test all three came back negative.I say it definitly does work, might not be a bad idea to take it for a couple months just to be sure. If you've taken anti-biotics for a while it'd be a good idea to get on a good probiotic for a month or two as well because anti-biotics destroy a lot of good bacteria as well as bad, disrupting the good/bad bacteria balance in the stomach, causing further digestive problems. You can find one at your local health food store. Yogurt with live cultures is good as well for this.

Three years ago I had stomach problems. I took a test for h. pylori and the test showed abnormally high growth of h. pylori.

My friend suggested me to try your pine nut oil as a good remedy for h. pylori. I took pine nut oil for a month and then redid the test. The test was negative! I did not even need to redo the test because it was evident that my stomach started to work normally.

I am very happy with your products and still take pine nut oil time to time for general health maintenance.

Thank you, Alex, NY, USA

I was recently diagnosed with H Pylori and been having severe burning abdominal pains. After taking pine nut oil for 1 week, I noticed increased energy with no further pains.

Dayenne, CA U.S.A.

At the gastrointestinal endoscopy the doctor found H. pylori and gastritis. The doctor said that gastritis could develop because of h. pylori in my stomach. He prescribed me antibiotics. But I've decided to take your pine nut oil as I've heard it helps with H. pylori.

I took 1 tea spoon one hour before meal. During first few days I started to feel myself better, stomach pains disappeared. I continued to take the oil even when I went to the business trip, and every day I felt myself better.

When I came back I did the endoscopy again and the doctor confirmed that the condition of my stomach improved much and told me to continue taking pine nut oil. I recommend Siberian pine nut oil of "Siberian Pine Nut Oil" brand to everyone who cares about their health!

Therapeutic Application of Pine Nut Oil
in a group involved in the clean-up of
the Chernobyl Atomic Energy Station in 1986–1987

Radiation is a form of beneficial energy which helps sustain life on our planet. But if it accumulates in a large quantity in one place, then it causes tremendous harm to Nature which takes decades to undo. Man is a part of Nature and shares in the consequences of any such catastrophe. In the case of exposure to intense radiation, serious harm results for all the body's life-sustaining mechanisms, and the body's defence system is significantly weakened.

This results in abnormalities and diseases. Up until recently medical theory held that the consequences of radiation exposure are incurable, which makes the following report all the more compelling.

7. Extra virgin pine nut oil

In 1992 a experimental research was conducted into the therapeutic effect of extra virgin pine nut oil on a group of people who had taken part in the clean-up of the Chernobyl Atomic Energy Station in 1986–1987. The group under observation consisted of 11 persons, including people with pronounced post-Chernobyl syndrome (stenisation, psychopathisation, pronounced irritability of the sympathetic nervous system). The most common complaints were: increased liability to fatigue, reduced working capacity in the latter part of the day (experienced by the whole group), sleeping disorders (8 subjects), frequent nervous breakdowns (7 subjects), recurring headaches (7 subjects). In addition, 4 persons suffered from chronic gastroduodenitis and 3 from chronic laryngotracheitis.

Pine Nut Oil Press

The treatment programme lasted 30–40 days and included a daily intake of pine nut oil in a milk emulsion of 50%. The mixture was taken in two different doses: once every morning on an empty stomach, in the amount of 1 tablespoon (20 g approx.), and 3 times a day before meals in the amount of 1 teaspoon (7 g approx.).

8. Pine nut oil supplement

All patients reported positive results from taking the pine nut oil supplement. All 11 subjects noticed an improvement in their overall well-being, increased working capacity, a significant stabilisation of the nervous system and a normalisation of sleep patterns. Headaches disappeared (4 subjects) or were less pronounced (3 subjects). A beneficial effect was also observed on the gastrointestinal tract — symptoms of gastritis were barely noticeable. Bowel functions normalised. The symptoms of laryngotracheitis completely disappeared in the three patients who were suffering from this disease.

It is interesting to note that during the whole time the mixture was being taken not one of the patients took ill with flu or any other acute respiratory disease.

It should be emphasised that no health improvement was achieved by members of this group through ordinary medical remedies. As a natural food product, pine nut oil has practically no counter-indications to its application.

9. Pine nut oil capsules

Q: Do you produce pine nut oil in capsule form?

A: We do not produce Siberian Pine Nut Oil in capsules for the following reasons:

1) Additional technological effects on the oil. The oil is poured into a special machine, whose components consist entirely of metal, which oxidizes the oil, and the pine nut oil substantially loses its quality.

During packaging in gelatin capsules an additional temperature effect occurs, which substantially reduces the quality of the pine nut oil.

2) We care about our customers and our reputation. We are aware of many instances where unscrupulous producers have packaged expired pine nut oil or diluted pine nut oil in capsules.

The entire point is that when you swallow pine nut oil capsules, you experience neither the taste nor the aroma of the pine nut oil. In this case, all the producer must do is packing the capsules with a gold-colored oily liquid; no one will notice the substitution. Even if you bite into the capsule and realize that this is a poor-quality oil or a counterfeit, it will be difficult for you to be refunded your money, since you must prove that the oil in the capsules is not of high quality. But even if you are refunded your money, no one will refund your wasted time and effort, and it is you who will not obtain the expected therapeutic effect from the pine nut oil.

Purchasers familiar with the problem of counterfeit pine nut oil in capsules regard such offers with suspicion.
We advise you not to take needless risks, and obtain original Siberian Pine Nut Oil from PineNutOil.org.

Siberian Pine Nut Oil - 250ml

I am writing to tell you that I have only just started to use your product. About eight months ago I got a rash on my legs. I have been to several doctors; had shots of cortisone and a biopsy that turned up no diagnosis. My sister sent me a bottle of your pine nut oil. She told me to rub it on the rash and take it internally, I was reluctant to take drink the oil so I only used it topically. It really did not do much. My sister kept insisting that I drink the oil also. I drank some as she said to take it. For the first time in eight months my itching is gone. The itch was so intense I felt like I had been in poison ivy. My daughters noticed a difference in the color of the rash and I can say it looks better in just a few days of using it both internally and externally than it has looked in eight months.

Thank you.

Monica Hosshall

I love your products and continue to order them. I have been drinking the oil and using the face cream. I gave the Age Ideal cream to my friend who is in her 60's. She put it on her skin on her face. Black stuff came out of her mouth where her dentures are. She also applied it to a cut on her finger and black stuff came out of her finger. Another friend in her 50's who consumed the cedar oil had black stuff coming out of her mouth as well.

Thank you

Vicky Lee

I have just had a bleeding ulcer and for about the last 20 years a hiatus hernia. After 30 days of taking one 20 MG of Omeprazole two times a day and your pine nut oil 3 times a day, yesterday after my latest endoscopy, my doctor tells me my ulcer has stopped bleeding and my hiatus hernia has completely healed.

I intend to continue taking your pine nut oil, 3 times a day...

I have been using Siberian cedar pine nut oil on my face each night and day for at least two years. Last December, a scar that was on my forehead from childhood completely fell off. It's like my skin rejected it from the inside out and pushed if off leaving smooth skin in its place. Just last week, much to my surprise, a mole on my neck came off too. It was the same process from the inside out. The mole has been with me for 46 years and now it's gone completely. I have no explanation other then the healing properties of the cedar nut oil and a shift in Consciousness.

Thank you Anastasia and those who made it a reality!

Nannera, USA

I would like to tell you about pine nut oil. My husband and I have been taking one tablespoon in the morning on an empty stomach over six months, alternating between ten days with oil followed by five days without. We've had phenomenal results.

Six years ago my husband underwent an operation on his liver. He was obliged to follow a strict diet. Any departure from it and he would have an attack. He always kept pills handy, but they only relieved the pain. But as soon as he began taking pine nut oil, he immediately felt a noticeable relief of the symptoms. Even though he's given up his dieting, he has absolutely no liver problems. We don't even have any liver medicine in the house. It has been replaced by pine nut oil.

Another interesting thing: after taking a spoonful of oil in the morning you get a charge of energy that lasts the whole day. Even if you run around all day like a squirrel in a wheel-cage, there's no fatigue come evening. My husband is 63 years old, but in his ability to work he can knock the socks off any younger man.

I've been helped by pine nut oil too. After giving birth I got hemorrhoids and suffered with them for twenty years. No matter what remedies I tried it was no use. When I started taking pine not oil, the thought came to me, why not make pine enemas? I began introducing 2 ml of pine nut oil into my anus with a single-use syringe. Since that time I feel as though I have reborn. There's not a trace of the hemhorroids left.

Another thing: I too had liver problems, just like my husband. Since I commenced taking pine nut oil, my liver has not caused me any distress. And my skin has become really smooth and silky. Pine nut oil does more for my skin than the most expensive cremes.

I'm personally convinced that pine nut oil does work wonders. I recommend you give it a try.

Irina Nikolaevna Uziumova

I like this oil. It's so good you can even eat it straight from the spoon. Very gentle and tasty.

I gave my 30 year old son a bottle of pine nut oil a few weeks ago and instructed him how to use it to enhance his overall health (mainly by taking a little off a spoon or drizzling it over bread). He came down with a terrible sinus infection which made one side of his face swell terribly. I treated it with antibiotics and the swelling and pain went away but only for about a week (I am a nurse practitioner).

He then called me again to say that his teeth were hurting. He agreed to call me the next day after work to let me know how he was doing. He called the next day to say he had such very bad pain in his face the night before that it hurt when he went to bed until about 1:30 a.m. He had to get up and think what to do about it. He stated he went downstairs and decided to rub some pine nut oil onto his gums and face where the sinus infection and pain were hurting him. What he stated next was amazing. He stated that his pain went away IMMEDIATELY after rubbing the pine nut oil onto his face and gums. He also took some orally off a teaspoon.

I agree with Anastasia and believe the pine nut oil definitely has healing properties!

I used the siberian pine nuts oil for a few months and I have to tell you its very energetic. I resolved a lot of healthy disease and also I've found my real equilibre. Thank you! Its really powerful!

11. Pine nut oil side effects

There was no reported evidence of pine nut oil causing adverse reactions or negative side effects.

12. Pine seeds

Pine Seeds

The pine reproduces by seeds. The germinating capacity of seeds is preserved for up to four years. After sowing, the seeds are loosely covered with soil. The seeds germinate in the year they are sown or in the following year, more rarely in the third year, after germination the young shoots must be kept in the shade and watered, in the second year the seedlings develop only the top shoot, in the third year they form the first whorl of lateral shoots. The young plant acquires a crown usually by the time it is 5 to 7 years old, and by 15 to 25 years of age is covered with branches almost to the ground. At 20 to 30 years of age, the lower branches begin to die off, and the crown acquires an oval shape.

The pine seeds are prepared from the middle of August-beginning of September until the middle of November. In the case of a delay in the ripening of the cones, they are collected in the spring. In order to grow the seedlings, it is recommended to sow seeds that have been stratified in the spring. In the case of further transportation of the seeds, it is important not to allow them to dry out (moisture content of less than 8-10%) or heat spontaneously, which occurs when the moisture content is greater than 20% and they are stored at a raised temperature. Seeds with an underdeveloped germ must not be extracted from the cones for two or three months before they ripen. The seeds of the Siberian and European pine are stratified at a temperature from-4 to +3C over three to five months. The stratification of the pine seeds can take place in an ice box, a deep trench, cold basement, in boxes under the snow, and in cold rooms. The seeds are mixed with two to three times their volume of sterile substratum (sand, sawdust, peat, moss). When placing them for stratification, the seeds should have a moisture content of 20 to 40%, while the substratum should have the least (field) moisture capacity. In all methods of stratification, it is necessary to provide good drainage and protection from rodents.

To create a supply of viable pine seeds, methods of long-term storage (up to 2.5 years) in deep trenches (2.5 meters) may be used. In the latter, a constantly lowered temperature and moisture content is provided. In order to hasten the appearance of shoots and reduce losses from rodents, in the spring planting it is expedient to use seeds that have begun to sprout slightly. For one linear meter 120 to 140 seeds are placed at a depth of three to four centimeters. Protection of the shoots from birds is ensured by covering the surface of the soil with a layer of sawdust (3-4 cm). The technology of growing the pine seedlings is no different from that used for other conifers (shade, watering, protection from flattening, cultivating the soil, weeding).

13. Pine nut trees

Stands of pines are created by planting on partially worked soil (furrows, beds, terraces) in the spring, autumn, and in the second half of the summer (in areas with increased humidity in July and August). When growing forest stands ofpine, attention should be directed to the creation of solid, pure stands ofpine in conditions of fresh and moist coniferous forests growing in relatively rich soils, or more rarely in mixed pine forests growing in sandy soils.

Even though pine nut trees are very tolerant of shade in their first years, pines nevertheless give the best growth performance in conditions of sufficient illumination. The competition of grass has a great influence on the intensity of the growth and the preservation ofpine stands. The experience of producing apine trees in various forest-growing conditions of Central Siberia has convincingly shown that the intensification of its growth and high preservation may be achieved only by caring for it over the course of seven to nine years. In optimal growth conditions and with intensive agricultural technology, already at 15 years of age Siberianpine nuttrees reach a height of 3.5 to 5 m. The beauty and severity of the majority of coniferous trees cannot leave anyone indifferent - they very much coincide in mood with the image of our northern landscape! In order to grow coniferous trees successfully in a cultivated plot (or outside its fence), several obligatory rules must be remembered.

Thus, the planting of coniferous species in the same group with deciduous trees, or their combination in a single hedge cannot be permitted. Coniferous trees do not tolerate contact with the branches and leaves of their deciduous fellows, which, as is said, "whip" them (that is, remove the needles). After this type of "interaction," the tops and a part of the crown of coniferous trees dry out and are rarely able to recover their previous form and beauty. In addition, hedges and groups made up of only conifers are more decorative. The planting and transplanting of coniferous species is permissible only when the ball of earth around the roots is preserved. Only very young saplings (2 to 4 years old) taken from a nursery may be planted in the early spring without this ball, as long as the roots are not permitted to dry out. If you are growing conifer seedlings in your beds (this is entirely possible), then it is expeditious to do it in soils that cling well to the roots of saplings that are dug up. But it is also possible to grow coniferous seedlings in special baskets, boxes, or jars buried in the soil. These seedlings are ready for transplanting to their permanent place of residence at any time of the year.

When transplanting pine nut tree from a forest, it is necessary to remember yet another rule: do not take saplings that are growing in a shaded part of the forest - they will die from the sun's burning heat and the dryness of the air, and in the best case, having lost their decorative shape, will be recovering from this malaise for many long years. It is best to direct one's choice to saplings that are growing in open, sunny clearings or at the edge of a forest.

Pine nut trees must be transported to their parcel of land with the ball of earth on their roots wrapped in sacking. And remember: in the first year after planting and transplanting, all coniferous trees and bushes require abundant and frequent watering! Apine tree should be transplanted in early spring or preferably in the fall, it is desirable to plant apine with a "nanny," which shields thepine sapling from light (it can be a birch or spruce, but in 15 years it will be necessary to cut down the nanny). For transplanting, it is necessary to dig a 50x50 hole, fill it with a mixture of humus, peat, and fallen needles. If the ground is clayey, then add 1/3 sand to the hole. When transplanting it is necessary to ensure that the root system is kept intact. In the hole, the roots are spread out, soil is poured in, packed down, and the root neck should be level with the soil. After planting, the plant is watered, and in the first two to three months, it is necessary to ensure that the soil does not dry out. In conclusion, I would like to quote an extract from Vladimir Megre's book The Space of Love:

"Let each inhabitant of a large city take a tiny nut from a resinouspine cone, hold it in his mouth, bathe it in his saliva, plant it at home in earth in a small pot, and water the earth each day. Before watering, let him dip his fingers into the water, his mood should be good, and let him wish himself, and, most importantly, his descendants, his children, good and the consciousness of God. And do this every day. When the shoot emerges, he can mentally converse with it about what is secret. On a summer, frostless day, at night, the pot with the small shoot should be placed outside among other plants. Let it begin to communicate with the stars, moon, and sun, let it know the rain, the breeze, and the spirit of the grass growing nearby, and it will come back inside again to its friends, its parents. This should be done on many occasions, when you have the desire and the time. This shoot is growing for the ages, after all, apine nut tree will live for more than five hundred years, it will give descendants, and tell newpines about the spirits of those who grew them. When it has grown to thirty centimeters inside, in the early spring the shoot may be planted in the earth. Let the municipal authorities allot at least one square meter to all those who do not own land. And the shoots will be planted from the edge of the city to the riverbank and along the roads, among the houses and in the center of crowded squares, let the people each look after their shoot, and let them help each other. From all corners of the earth people will come to this city for centuries to look, to touch these sacred objects, to exchange even a word with its happy people."

14. Pine needles clean the air

Inpine stands the air is pure and wholesome. The antimicrobial properties ofpine forests are high. The health-improving properties ofpine stands has been pointed out by I. Ya. Slovtsev, an expert on Siberian forests. He wrote that "pine needles always have an aromatic freshness." V. Gomilevskiy cites some interesting data in his work. When characterizing the Siberianpine as a valuable tree, the author notes that this type of plant acts in a way to frighten off harmful insects. In particular, he writes, "Gadflies, horse-flies, mosquitoes, gnats, and insects called by the common name of "midges" avoid the Siberianpine, in all probability, driven away by the resinous odor, which is especially strong during intense heat and after dusk."pine needles, thanks to the emission of bactericides, fungicides, and protozoacides, make the air more healthy and destroy pathogenic microorganisms, and impart wholesome properties to the air. They possess antimicrobial effects with respect to diphtheria bacteria. The quantity of microbes in the air decreases with an increase in the proportion of Siberianpine in the composition of the stands. In addition, if a pine forest has anfavorable effect on certain cardiac patients, inpine stands "even with a very large saturation of the vapours ofpineneedle essential oil, no negative deviations or indications of the ionization of the air are observed" (Sverchkov, 1964, p. 18). All this confirms the sanitary-hygienic and even preventive medical importance ofpine stands. Taking all this into account, it is necessary to plant more Siberianpines in our suburban forests, in resort areas, in urban squares, gardens, and parks, especially because the Siberianpine is more tolerant (in comparison to other conifers) of smoke and gases in urban conditions. On a hot day it provides good protection for a person from the intense summer heat. The most important biological feature, which also has great practical significance, is the great hardiness of the Siberianpine in winter. This is one of the representatives of the nut-bearing plants that is not afraid of harsh winters and extends far to the north. Among the coniferous species, the Siberianpine is the most smoke resistant tree, and can propagate in large industrial cities.

PINE NUTS - A TREASURE-HOUSE OF USEFUL SUBSTANCES

The nutritional and medicinal properties of nuts come largely from their content of fat, protein and other substances. Pine nut fat differs from other fat sources in its high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially linoleic acid.

First among nitrogenous substances are the proteins, which in turn are characterized by an elevated content of amino acids, especially arginine. These amino acids are extremely important to development of the growing organism. HenceNuts have been essential in the diet of children, teenagers and pregnant women. Nut protein is easy to digest.

Pine Nuts contain valuable lipolytic vitamins E and P . E-group vitamins, or tocopherols, are very important and essential in ensuring complete genetic heredity. (The word tocopherol in Greek literally means "I bear offspring".) A deficiency of Vitamin E upsets the fatty balance in the system. Vitamin E is responsible for the production of milk in nursing mothers, and its deficiency can stop lactation. A person's predisposition to atherosclerosis can also be explained by a Vitamin-E deficiency.

Pine Nuts contain a complex of B vitamins, which normalise the activity of the nervous system, have a favourable influence on the growth and development of the human organism, and improve blood composition. Young wolves delight in feasting on nuts during exfoliation. It used by both carnivores and herbivores, and are an effective antidote to vitamin deficiency, which causes serious disorders in the system.

Pine nut nuclei are rich in valuable mineral substances and micronutrients. The nutsvalue are confirmed by the chemical composition. They surpass all other nuts as well as oil seeds in terms of phosphatidic content. As the richest source of lecithin they are comparable only to soybean. They are also a rich source of iodine, which is very important to residents of northern latitudes.

Pine Nuts offer a sufficient daily intake to satisfy an adult organism's daily need for amino acids, as well as such important and often deficient micronutrients as copper, cobalt, manganese and zinc. On the whole nuts are very easy to digest, and have a tremendous beneficial effect on the human organism.

The shell of thepine nut in pulverized form can be used as animal feed. It has an average food value in comparison with other types of feed. Granted, it does contain a good deal of fiber, making it more challenging to digest. The process of extracting oil from thepine nut by the cold-press method leaves apine nut flakes which is rich in biologically active substances, micronutrients, proteins, Vitamins E, A, C, U of Group B, unsaturated fatty acids with no cholesterol content. This is an excellent dietary product, which facilitates the normalization of substance metabolism, maintenance of health and preservation of human work capacity for many years. It can be added to desserts, creams, fruit and vegetable salads. It gives cakes, pies, ice cream and other confectionary products a delicate taste and aroma. It can be used as well with cottage cheese, honey, muesli, cereals etc.

According to research, thepine nut nucleus weighs, on average, approximately 43% of the total mass of the nut. These amazing seeds contain, as has been stated above, an incredible number of useful substances: vitamins, micronutrients, proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Let us examine all pine nuts nutrients treasure in more detail.

Nut nuclei contain 63.9% high-quality oil and 17.2% easily digestible proteins, including 19 aminoacids:

• triptophane

• leucine and isoleucine

• amino isovaleric acid

• diamino-hexanoic acid

• methionine

• glutanic acid

• histidine

• pyrrolidine carboxylic acid

• serine

• aminoacetic acid

70% of these are essential and relatively essential, which indicates the high biological value of proteins. While arginine (up to 21g/100 g of protein) is considered replaceable in the diet of an adult person, it is considered essential in the case of children.

Pine nut protein is distinguished from the protein of other products by its elevated content of diamino-hexanoic acid (up to 12.4g/100g of protein), methionine (up to 5.6g/100g of protein) and tryptophan (up to 3.4g/100g of protein) — these are the most frequently deficient amino acids, which usually limit the biological value of protein in product composition.

The vitamins contained in nuts contribute to the growth of the human organism. The pine nuts nutrients, therefore, includes the following vitamins:

• Vitamin A — the vitamin for growth and development;

• Vitamin B1 (thiamine) — which regulates the oxidation of carbohydrate metabolism products, and participates in the metabolism of amino acids, the formation of fatty acids and influences cardiovascular, digestive, glandular functions as well as the function of the central and peripheral nervous system;

• Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) — which helps the organism in the conversion of proteins, fats and carbohydrates into energy and is essential to the formation and sustenance of the fabric of the organism; it increases sensitivity of vision to light and colour, has a positive influence on the condition of the nervous system, skin and mucous membranes, the functioning of the liver and blood formation;

• Vitamin B3 (niacin) — which is important for fat synthesis, protein metabolism and food-energy conversion; it acts to regulate the higher nervous activity, the cardiovascular system, the functioning of the digestive organs, cholestorol metabolism and blood formation;

• Vitamin E (tocopherol), which influences the functions of the sex and other vascular glands, stimulates the action of the muscles, participates in the metabolism of proteins and carbohydrates, facilitates the digestion of fats, Vitamins A and O, and also protects cell membranes from injury.

Pine Nuts are rich in the most important macro- and micronutrients:

• copper — which is involved in the functioning of the brain and is essential for the formation of red corpuscles;

• magnesium — which is required for the formation of correct bone structure, and is also an important component of soft tissue;

• manganese — which is essential for the tendrons and hormones and helps the organism take in glucose; it also participates in the activity of the enzymes in the reproductive process, as well as growth and fat metabolism;

• silicon — which facilitates the formation and elasticity of the organism's connective tissue, and also participates in the calcification of the bones;

• vanadium — which retards the formation of cholestorol in the blood vessels; it also participates in the activity of the enzymes, in the metabolism of glucose and fat, and in the development of bones and teeth;

• potassium — which regulates the organism's water balance; it also assists in the normalisation of cardiac contractions and supplying nutrition to the muscle system;

• phosphorous — which is involved in the formation and maintenance of teeth and bones and plays an important role in the activity of the muscles and nerve cells and in quick energy release;

• calcium — which is the main component of bones and teeth and is essential for blood coagulation, cell integrity and heart action; it is also important for normal muscle contraction and the functioning of the nervous system;

• molybdenum — which assists in the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats, and facilities prevention of blood deficiency;

• nickel — a deficiency of which influences blood formation and retrads growth, along with changes in the content of iron, copper and zinc in the liver;

• iodine — which is part of the hormones of the thyroid gland and is essential for full metabolism processes;

• tin — a deficiency of which in the organism may lead to retardation of growth;

• boron — a deficiency of which can weaken mental alertness and the capacity to bear physical burdens;

• zinc — which plays a vital role in the restoration of tissue, normal skeletal growth and muscle contraction, and also helps in healing wounds and contributes to the normal functioning of the prostate gland;

• iron — which is the most important component in hemoglobin and protein.

Apart from the micronutrients listed above, Pine Nuts also contain barium, titanium, silver, aluminium, iodide, cobalt and sodium.

The pine nuts nutrients include carbohydrates such as:

• glucose

• fructose

• sucrose

• sugar

• starch

• starch gum

• pentosans

• cellulose

The shell of the cedar nut accounts for 55–60% of the weight of the seeds. Its composition includes tannic substances, amino acids, sugar and micronutrients.

In terms of chemical composition the cedar nut shell contains:

• fats 1.2–1.9%

• resin 3.5–4.0%

• proteins 1.6–1.9%

• cellulose 68–69%

• pentozans 21.5–22.7%

• calces 0.6–0.9%

• macro and micronutrients 0.15–0.19%

Water-dissoluble substances at 20C in the shell constitute 4.6–4.8%.

16. Pine nuts benefits

Siberian folk medicine has eagerly made widespread use of Pine nuts in the treatment of various ailments. For example, the population of Siberia has long considered it as an effective remedy in salt deposition.

They used the nuclei of pine nuts in preparing alcohol and would take daily drops of the mixture over the period of a month. The result was usually very good.

It is known that they were used in olden times in Yenisei province for the treatment of abscesses. After chewing, them were placed on the abscess, and a bandage applied on top of the sore spot. The nuts served to soften the abscess and sped up the maturation process. After the wound was cleansed from pus, the nuts accelerated the healing.

Earlier the husk and pine nut flakes were used to prepare cleansing baths; particles of bran were also added. The bath had a most beneficial effect on the skin, especially chapped or coarsened skin. These baths were recommended in the case of diathesis, eczema, pyodermatosis and other skin diseases. In addition, a bath with the addition of a concoction made ofpine nut husks and flakes has a calming action on the nervous system. It is effective in cases of overexcitement as well as over exhaustion.

A pine nuts benefit was used for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and gout, as well as in metabolism disorders and vitamin deficiency. They would pour vodka on ground nuts together with their shells. After letting it steep for 7 days, they would filter it and ingest over a period of 1.5–2 months.

The shell of thepine nut is rich in tannic substances. It was used to make potions and concoctions (2–3 tablespoons per glassful), which were used in treating inflammation of the mucous membranes in the oral cavity and other organs in the form of embrocations and ablutions — in the case of skin diseases (lichen, pyodermatosis, eczema etc.), as well as burn damage.

Potions made from shells ofnuts were used for the treatment of the gastro-intestinal tract. It raises the tonicity, imparts strength and restores the normal functioning of the gastro-intestinal tract.

Potions made from shells in vodka were also used to treat hearing disorders.

A concoction of shells could be drunk in the case of gastro-intestinal disorders. It had a cohesive, an aesthetic and anti-inflammatory action. Siberian wizards recommended using a potion made frompine nut shells in the case of hemorrhoids. Folk medicine recommended that a potion ofpine nut shells be drunk in the case of osteochondrosis or arthritis.

A potion ofnut nuclei in light wine was taken as a blood-cleansing remedy. It was good to add honey to this potion too.

Folk medicine recommended a portion of nut nuclei in wine with low alcoholic content be taken for bladder problems, as well as for stones in the liver and gall bladder.

The ground nuclei of nuts with honey was useful in treating ulcers. Folk medicine held that with a variety of skin diseases, including skin cancer, eczema and boils, the constant use of natural pine nuts orpine oil would lead to recovery.

Pine nuts should be a constant part of the diet of children and teenagers. They have a beneficial effect on children's physical and mental development. They are very useful and essential during the exfoliation period. The use of pine nuts serves to strengthen the organism's defense mechanisms.
